Heritage Trails

This morning we went on the heritage trials. I learnt about how the three rivers connect up together in the middle. I enjoyed the icebreaker that we played.

In the second block we had a person from ASB to tell us about Financial Literacy and how to get wise with money. I liked how we played this game where you had to make the right choices or you would get in dept. Our team ended the game in profit, which was a win win situation.

LH10 Shop Day

Shop day is about fundraising profits for the end of term trips. I hope that this will be a success, not a failure.

Evolution

The theory of evolution was developed by Charles Darwin back in 1859. He said that evolution worked through natural selection. Natural selection means that some individuals in a species are better at surviving than others and will have more children.

Rabbits live all over, and have dark fur. But in a place where it snows a lot, white fur would be an advantage. A white furred rabbit would be harder to see and is more likely to survive and have children. These children will inherit its mum or dad’s white fur. Eventually all the rabbits living in the cold place will have white fur.

The Law Of Driving

Do you think that way too much people die from car accidents, Well i'm here to talk about it. A Lot of people break the law when it comes to driving. New Zealand's death toll on the roads continues to rise at disturbing rates. The two main ideas of concern are=
Using cellphones when driving
Drink and Drugs when driving
I will discuss these 2 main points today.

Using your cellphone when driving is DUMB. This causes death on our roads. Did you know that nearly 390,000 injuries occur from texting and driving, And only from the United States! From November 1st 2009 it became illegal for people to text and drive. But still I know a lot of people that text and drive. Put your hand up if you have seen someone texting and driving….. I have proven my point.


My next point is drink and drug driving and how it puts other drivers at risk. Studies have shown that the risk of being involved in a crash increases as a driver's blood alcohol concentration increases. Did you know that New Zealand has one of the worlds highest rates of cannabis use. Two-thirds of cannabis users admit to under the influence, says the Transport Agency.
